I don't know if I'm ready to jump into the nude thing until I know more about it. How can I check it out to see if it's something for me?

First of all, you are not alone. Just about everyone who calls themselves a nudist has faced this issue and eventually decided that nudism had something to offer them.

While not everyone who tries social nudity finds it appealing the first time around, it can be said that most nudists became nudists because they found it to be a life-changing experience and felt that the lifestyle was something they wanted to be part of for the duration.

We are a very busy society and many people have found it difficult to spend their precious leisure nudity time in ways that they can truly enjoy themseleves. For most who travel for their vacations, planning what to wear and packing it efficiently constitutes a major effort. It is many of those people who find nudism appealing because those are no longer issues and so they feel their leisure time is must higher quality time.

Of course there are countless philosophical reasons why people enjoy nudism as well and likewise, there are many different nudist organizations out there that focus on different nudist philosophies.

Not every nudist is interested, for example, in the social aspects and prefer just being public amateur voyeur nudes alone or with close friends at the local swimming hole. Others prefer participating in groups that enjoy nude sporting events such as the SWSA's 5K Running Series or in public protests such as the World Naked Bike Ride. There also exists a large number social nudist organizations that, by virtue of the large number of members, can excercise considerable political influence and thus are able to do much to protect the rights of nudists when those rights are challenged.

At the end of the day, however, you'll find that most nudists participate in a mixture of different offerings from the nudist community.

Looking for the organization that is right for you can be a bit of a challenge if you are a bit uneasy with the idea of going nude to begin with. Certainly, one of the prime considerations is distance, but the "newbie" thing is paramount. Most of the organized nudist clubs and resorts are sensitive to this issue and try to make it as easy for newbies as possible. Club and resorts also offer a controlled environment, making it a lot easier for those who don't know anyone there yet.

Although the national organizations' literature and the local nudist club brochures are full of highlights and features, keep in mind that it is really the people who belong to the club that matter the most; the club with the biggest feature list is not necessarily the club with the friendliest people.

Before you visit an nude picture organization, you should contact them either by email or by phone and try to arrange for an initial visit or try to attend one or two of their events. You'll find their listings here on Tex Nudists.

Most clubs in Texas do not require you to be undressed during the initial 1 or 2 visits, although most do require full nudity in their swimming pools and hot tubs.

For many of you, starting is not an easy thing to do, but I do invite you to try it out. Hopefully, if things work out... you'll probably never buy an expensive bathing suit again!
